Passion and Vision

Harlan is inspired by the literature of T.S Elliot, Sylvia Plath, and Joan Didion. Because of her adoration for language, she truly believes in the power of literature to evoke empathy from any viewer, anywhere.

As Penguin’s author, Harlan is currently working on a novel about female maternalism and rage, focused on the reparatory story of a girl born on the same day as the Hiroshima bomb.

In her creative vision, she weaves together various complex dynamics on a journey to untangle human motives and understand the challenges of morality.
